Scottie Scheffler commits to 2026 WM Phoenix Open as 2-time champ, world’s top golfer

Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top golfer, will return to TPC Scottsdale for the 2026 WM Phoenix Open in February, tournament chairman Jason Eisenberg announced Wednesday.

Scheffler, who has held the No. 1 ranking since his second-place finish at the 2023 PGA Championship, returns to the event having won two of the last four titles (2022, 2023) and is coming off a 25th-place finish in 2025 after finishing third in 2024.

“Scottie has been a great champion and longtime supporter of the WM Phoenix Open and the entire community,” Eisenberg said in the announcement. “He earned his first career PGA Tour win here, (and) we are excited to welcome back to Scottsdale.

“We anticipate having another incredible field of players and can’t wait to watch them tee it up in February.”

Scheffler is coming off a six-win 2025 season in which he became the second golfer (Tiger Woods) to ever win four consecutive PGA Tour Player of the Year awards. In addition to the six wins, he also was inside the top five a dozen times.

This will be his seventh time at the Valley event, and he’s only missed the cut once (first appearance in 2019).

The 2026 WM Phoenix Open will take place Feb. 2-8, with Thomas Detry as the defending champion.
