A closer look: Giants drop Diamondbacks in 10

So, we will give you a closer look, providing you with the analysis, quotes and notes from the D-backs’ September 3 loss to the Giants. Final score: Giants 9, Diamondbacks 8.

The Good:

After taking a beating in the Giants’ four-run first inning, the D-backs fought back and took the lead behind a big sixth inning.

D-backs starter Patrick Corbin also did well after a bad first inning, throwing four strong, scoreless innings. He struck out six on the day.

The Bad:

The D-backs bullpen blew it. Going into the ninth, the D-backs had a 8-7 lead with just three outs to go. Enter J.J. Putz.

He blew the save, giving up two hits and one run.

Noted:

The D-backs posted 14 hits, hopefully a sign that the offense is finding its stride.

Up Next:

The D-backs will look to take revenge for the narrow loss in the second game of the series against the Giants on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. Ace Ian Kennedy (12-11, 4.27) will get the start for Arizona. He will be opposed by Ryan Vogelsong (12-7, 3.02).
