Corbin Carroll records MLB’s fastest triple of 2025, Josh Naylor the slowest home run

As players and fans endure the winter and await spring training, we take a look at fun stats from the 2025 MLB season. Concerning the fastest and slowest times around the bases, two Diamondbacks make the cut.

Corbin Carroll, who led all of baseball with 17 triples, not only had the fastest recorded triple time — from home plate to third base — he had the nine fastest triples.

His triple that blew every other one out of the water was clocked at 10.87 seconds on April 27 in a 6-4 win over the Atlanta Braves. The 25-year-old outfielder had two triples in that game, a feat he repeated two more times in 2025 — June 10 versus the Seattle Mariners and July 19 versus the St. Louis Cardinals.

For as speedy as Carroll is — 98th percentile in MLB, according to Baseball Savant — Josh Naylor, a Diamondback prior to the trade deadline, recorded the slowest home run of the year.

And it was coincidentally against the Seattle Mariners, who collected the first baseman for two pitching prospects.

In a 4-4 game on June 9 — the game before Carroll notched his first of the season with multiple triples — Naylor unloaded a walk-off grand slam near Chase Field’s famous pool off of righty reliever Carlos Vargas. It took him 37.1 seconds to round the bases.

He was basking in the glory for the first several seconds, so the time is a bit inflated.

For how slow he actually is — 3rd percentile, per Baseball Savant — Naylor had a career year for stolen bases with 30 between the Diamondbacks and Mariners. His best in his first six seasons was 10 with the Cleveland Guardians in 2023.
