Corbin Carroll extends hitting streak to 10 games with RBI knock vs. Marlins

Arizona Diamondbacks star outfielder Corbin Carroll is building a couple impressive streaks at the plate, which he continued Thursday with an RBI single in a 6-4 win at the Miami Marlins.

Carroll’s knock to right — which gave the D-backs a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning — extended his hitting streak to 10 games, tied for the second-longest active hitting streak in the majors. It also ties the third-longest hitting streak of Carroll’s career, his high being 14 contests last year.

The outfielder also extended his on-base streak to start the season to 19 games, the third-longest in franchise history.

Marlins starter Edward Cabrera started the game by striking out Carroll on a ball in the dirt that skipped away from catcher Rob Brantley. Carroll reached first base on the dropped third strike.

He went on to steal both second and third, scoring on a Geraldo Perdomo sacrifice fly.

After his RBI single, Carroll swiped second base and took off for third when Perdomo singled up the middle for the RBI. Carroll entered Thursday with one stolen base. He has now has four career games with three-plus steals.

His career high for stolen bases is 54 when he won Rookie of the Year in 2023.

Carroll entered Thursday second in MLB with 51 total bases and second in fWAR at 1.6.

He finished Thursday’s game 1-for-5 with two runs scored as the D-backs secured a series sweep.
