Diamondbacks-Brewers Cactus League game pushed back due to expected high temperatures

The Arizona Diamondbacks announced Sunday that the start time for their Cactus League game against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday has been pushed back due to expected high temperatures.

The game, which was originally set to start at 1:10 p.m. MST at Salt River Fields, will now start at 6:10 p.m. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m.

The Diamondbacks are the latest Cactus League team to push their start time back as the metro Phoenix area could potentially see record highs later in the week. Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 107 degrees. The daily heat record for March 20 is 96 degrees.

Arizona is set to play several Cactus League games this week, amidst the heat wave, including the Chicago Cubs at Salt River Fields on Wednesday and the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch on Thursday.

Wednesday’s and Thursday’s forecasts call for record highs of 102 and 105 degrees, respectively. If Wednesday’s temperature reaches more than 100 degrees, it would mark the earliest date in the year Phoenix has reached triple-digit temperatures. The record for the earliest date to reach 100 degrees is March 26.

Several Cactus League games have already had start times pushed due to the rising temperatures in the Valley. Those include:

– March 18: Royals at Rangers moved to 6:05 p.m. MST at Surprise Stadium

– March 19: Angels at Royals moved to 6:05 p.m. MST at Surprise Stadium

– March 19: Giants at Rockies moved to 6:10 MST at Salt River Fields

– March 20: Giants at Rangers moved to 6:05 p.m. MST at Surprise Stadium

– March 20: Mariners at Guardians moved to 6:05 p.m. MST at Goodyear Ballpark

– March 20: Reds at Cubs moved to 6:05 p.m. MST at Sloan Park

– March 20: Cubs at Athletics moved to 6:10 p.m. MST At Hohokam Stadium

– March 20: Brewers at Diamondbacks moved to 6:10 p.m. at Salt Rivers Fields

– March 21: White Sox at Reds moved to 6:05 p.m. MST at Goodyear Ballpark

– March 21: Cubs at Mariners moved to 6:10 p.m. MST at Peoria Sports Complex
