The Arizona Diamondbacks couldn’t get any offense going for the second straight day in their 3-2 10th-inning loss to the Mariners, getting swept for the third time this season.

Arizona managed just three hits in the game, leaving starter Merrill Kelly without any support.

Kelly pitched 5.1 innings and gave up two runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.

On the other side, Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo each pitched five innings to get the Mariners through 10 innings of work. Miller threw five shutout innings, allowing just one hit and a walk, and Castillo gave up two runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks.

Dominic Canzone, who entered the series hitting .237 with five home runs on the season, went 5-for-10 with two home runs against the D-backs.

The only offense for Arizona came from Corbin Carroll, Ildemaro Vargas and Gabriel Moreno, who each had one hit.

The Diamondbacks arrived in Seattle on a five-game winning streak, with 10 victories in their last 11 outings, and a season-best seven games over .500, and they will leave T-Mobile Park on a three-game losing streak.

It doesn’t get any easier for Arizona, as the D-backs will return home to face the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have won seven of their last eight games.

I was watching the game on Dbacks TV and the announcers made the same comment for the second game in a row after the Dbacks loss: The Dbacks are in the wild card if the playoffs started today.

There are 104 games left to play...plenty of games...it is totally inappropriate to brag that the Dbacks are in the WC playoffs if they started today especially after getting their butts kicked in the past three games.
