Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper hit back-to-back home runs to give the Philadelphia Phillies the advantage over the Diamondbacks 4-3 on Saturday to end Arizona’s three-game winning streak.
Arizona did not use catcher Gabriel Moreno, who is headed for the injured list due to a “muscular issue,” according to MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert.
Moreno left Friday’s game because of left lower back tightness and was sent for an MRI. The Diamondbacks “don’t anticipate a long absence,” Gilbert added.
Arizona catcher Adrian Del Castillo had three hits in Moreno’s place.
Ketel Marte hit his 14th career leadoff home run and Del Castillo had an RBI single for a 2-0 lead in the first off Taijuan Walker. Batters are 10 for 19 (.526) in the first inning with nine runs off Walker in three starts.
Walker allowed two runs and four hits in five innings. Brad Keller gave up a two-out RBI single to Jose Fernandez in the eighth, then struck out Nolan Arenado to strand a runner on third.
Arizona starter Brandon Pfaadt had pink shoelaces on his cleats as a gender reveal for the baby that his brother, Brett, and his wife, Hannah, are expecting. Brett and Brandon were teammates at Bellarmine University in 2020, with Brandon drafted in the fifth round by Arizona that year.
Phillies’ Andrew Painter (4.82 ERA) and Arizona’s Zac Gallen (3.00 ERA) face off in the matchup of righties with the series on the line Sunday.

A little less time in the weight room trying to improve meaningless stats such as exit velocity and a little more time stretching. “Injuries” described using words such as tightness, pull, tweak, or strain are injuries caused by not enough stretching.
Vargas needs to play
Guadalcanal had more survivors than this group of accident prone, lame pin-cushion ballplayers.
Who assembled these Calamity Jane's?
Catcher is supposed to be the leader/tough guy position.
If Moreno played an entire solid season this team's success odds would be way higher....he's that talented, but his fragility totally counter balances his capabilities.
....what a waste of what-if talent when he's most needed. He couldn't even get through Spring Training intact let alone a season that lasts more than weeks.
