Geraldo Perdomo hit a homer and won a mascot race in Diamondbacks-Reds series finale

Geraldo Perdomo had some fun in Cincinnati during the Arizona Diamondbacks’ series finale against the Reds Sunday.

Perdomo joined in on the mascot race at Great American Ball Park, crossing the finish line first in the engaging activity during the middle of the fifth inning.

Then, the D-backs’ shortstop earned another win, this time in the batter’s box, with a two-run home run in the sixth inning to give Arizona a 3-2 lead.

The go-ahead home run was Perdomo’s second hit of the day, after reaching on a bunt single to third base in the second inning.

While the D-backs‘ young star has started the season rough, Perdomo has raised his batting average 23 points since the start of June (.221 to .244), with a hit in nine of Arizona’s 13 games, including five multi-hit efforts.

However, the D-backs’ 3-2 lead was short-lived as Noelvi Marte responded in the bottom of the sixth with a game-tying home run, his long ball of the series.

Gabriel Moreno gave Arizona a lead once again in the eighth inning with a solo shot of his own before the game went into a rain delay before the ninth inning began.

The game is scheduled to resume at 2:10 p.m.
