Ketel Marte exits Diamondbacks-Braves game with knee soreness

Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte was pulled early from Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves with left knee soreness, the club announced.

The Diamondbacks rearranged their defense to start the second inning with Marte coming out of the game. They flipped Tim Tawa from center field to first base, Ildemaro Vargas from first base to second base and put Jorge Barrosa in center.

Marte took one at-bat, a 103 mph lineout off Braves starter Chris Sale, and attempted to make a play deep in the 3-4 hole, which resulted in a single for Drake Baldwin.

The switch-hitter is batting .251 with a .763 OPS this season, but he had shown signs of heating up lately. He racked up seven hits over his previous four games, including two home runs.
