Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte was pulled from Friday’s game against the Atlanta Braves in the second inning with left knee soreness, the club announced.

Manager Torey Lovullo told reporters on the Diamondbacks’ television broadcast that Marte would be day-to-day.

Lovullo said Marte started to feel the soreness during Arizona’s series against the San Diego Padres last week, but the veteran has played through it. Marte attempted to make a play in the 3-4 hole during the first inning on Friday, which aggravated the issue, Lovullo said.

The Diamondbacks rearranged their defense to start the second inning with Marte coming out of the game. They flipped Tim Tawa from center field to first base, Ildemaro Vargas from first base to second base and inserted Jorge Barrosa in center field.

Marte took one at-bat, a 103 mph lineout off Braves starter Chris Sale.

The switch-hitter is batting .251 with a .763 OPS this season, but he had shown signs of heating up lately. He racked up seven hits over his previous four games, including two home runs.

The Diamondbacks went on to win the game, 2-0.

Wow, his avg. is up over .250 (sarcasm).
DBs were an abysmal 0-14 with RISP and 11Ks. Not enough kudos go to Pfaadt's gem.

But, of course.

This clown needs to go. Tired, tired, tired of his antics and simply not being available when needed.

Marte is not a team player. Unless we're talking about all his stuffed animals.
