Diamondbacks’ Ketel Marte walks off field with foot contusion during game vs. Giants
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte walked off the field with the athletic trainer during Wednesday's game against the Giants.

Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte walked off the field at Oracle Park with the athletic trainer during Wednesday’s game against the San Francisco Giants.
Marte came out after taking his position for the bottom of the seventh inning, calling for the trainer and walking gingerly to the clubhouse.
Manager Torey Lovullo told reporters postgame that Marte left with a right foot contusion after he fouled a ball off his foot. X-rays were negative.

Marte finished the game 0-for-3 with an RBI and was replaced by Ildemaro Vargas.
Marte had started each of Arizona’s last 13 games, eight at second base and five at designated hitter.
He has dealt with several injuries this season, including a hamstring strain that kept him out for three weeks in the first half and forearm discomfort that limited him to DH for a couple games in late August.
Occasional days off for Marte have been implemented by the team throughout this season to manage his ailments.
Marte has played 113 games this year and will finish with his fewest since 2021. He is batting .281 with an .892 OPS and 25 home runs this season.
The Diamondbacks led the Giants 5-0 after seven innings on Wednesday and won 5-3.

Oh nooo....without his .171 for the month of Sept and total of 3 extra base hits since apologizing in August, the Playoff chances are in serious jeopardy!
i sincerely hope they can get something special in trading him and go with Blaze-Perdomo-Lawyer and a new solid signing at 1B + Moreno for an exciting infield next season!! Somehow I think we could survive without his "elite" bat and bubbly persona.
I agreed. I like Marte but this season really pushed me to the point that he should be traded during off-season. I think that he has still has good trade value to where he could be traded for a 1B, starter or closer.
I think they can sign from a number of 1B pros entering the market.
But I'm with you on any durable pitching in a trade and would love to see them get solid OF as well in the transaction.
