The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed catcher Gabriel Moreno on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Saturday) with a strained left oblique.
Additionally, Arizona transferred designated hitter and first baseman Pavin Smith to the 60-day IL (left elbow inflammation) and selected the contract of catcher Aramis Garcia from Triple-A Reno.
Reliever Taylor Rashi was also optioned to Reno, while Merrill Kelly was officially reinstated from the 15-day IL ahead of his Tuesday start.
Smith last played on March 28, a 3-2 loss in the season-opening series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In two games, he’s slashed .167/.375/.167 with a .542 OPS, a hit and two strikeouts.
Moreno, meanwhile, left Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies with his injury.
In 13 games this season, Moreno is slashing .275/.333/.400 with a .733 OPS. He’s recorded 11 hits, five RBIs and three walks to eight strikeouts.
Taking over for Moreno at catcher have been James McCann and Adrian Del Castillo.

I can't imagine in what universe Pavin Smith's absence would be noticed.....
Matt Olson about to
play his 800th straight game....
Not sure if Gabby has ever played more than a half dozen....
To be sure, catching is a far more physically demanding position than 1B, but I get your point. He has missed a lot of time.
Only 1,800 more games to go for Olson to threaten Ripken Jr.
