Diamondbacks unable to sweep Rockies after Brandon Pfaadt surrenders go-ahead 3-run HR
Mickey Moniak hit a three-run homer off Brandon Pfaadt to cap a four-run fifth inning, and the Diamondbacks were unable to complete a series sweep in a loss to the Rockies at Coors Field.

DENVER (AP) — Mickey Moniak hit a three-run homer off Brandon Pfaadt to cap a four-run fifth inning, Antonio Senzatala won his second straight start, and the Arizona Diamondbacks were unable to complete a series sweep in a 4-2 loss to the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
The major league-worst Rockies (18-60) snapped a three-game skid to avoid the worst record through 78 games in the modern era. The 1907 St. Louis Cardinals and 1932 Detroit Tigers also went 18-60.
Moniak hit a first-pitch changeup from Pfaadt 385 feet down the right-field line to make it 4-2. It was his second homer of the three-game series and 11th of the season. Moniak appeared to be sitting on Pfaadt’s changeup, one of nine he threw to left-handed hitters.
Senzatela gave up two runs and four hits in 5 1/3 innings. He had won once in 14 starts before beating Washington on Tuesday.
Randal Grichuk had two hits and two RBIs for the D-backs, who were attempting to move three games over .500 for the first time since May 20.
Arizona’s Eugenio Suárez doubled to extend his extra-base hit streak to four games. He is 10-for-18 with four homers, two doubles and nine RBIs over that stretch.
Seth Halvorsen retired Ketel Marte on a fly ball with a runner on second in the ninth for his sixth save, and the Rockies’ Tyler Freeman extended his hitting streak to a career-best 10 games.
Pfaadt has given up 22 earned runs in his last 18 innings for the Diamondbacks (39-38).

LHP Eduardo Rodriguez (2-4, 5.93 ERA) is to oppose White Sox RHP Shane Smith (3-4, 2.85) in the first of a three-game series at Chicago.

Yep, another predictable give away loss. Let's bench a guy with 7 hits (4 doubles and a HR) in first 2 games under the guise of "needs a Coors Field rest". Remember Ketel missed about 25 to 30 games at start of season, isn't that a huge rest?. Postgame Lovullo said "guys are tired". Really??? Are they running a daycare center where guys get to take a nap? And we sit Gabby every 3rd game to "prevent soft tissue injuries". How did that work with his hand injury? Utter insanity.
Totally agree. If you want to get Marte off his feet, let him DH. Winning teams don't feel good about 2 out of three from a historically bad team. Winning teams go hard for the sweep. They know that they need to be 7-8 games over .500 by mid July to get back in this. Otherwise, they're sellers at the trade deadline. Where's the urgency? I don't get the "mañana" attitude. The Dbacks are running out of mananas. Also...it's time to give Grichuk more ABs at DH moving forward...not just righty - lefty platoons. Pavin Smith has been in a funk for a month. Let's try something different. And finally...I was one of the guys on here banging the drum for Perdomo at the top of the order. I will admit that I was wrong. Move him back to the 9th spot. He just seemed more comfortable there.
