Diamondbacks OF Tommy Troy is day-to-day after suffering shoulder injury vs. Dodgers

LOS ANGELES — Arizona Diamondbacks rookie center fielder Tommy Troy came out of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Dodgers after banging into the wall to make a catch during the fifth inning at Chavez Ravine.

The Diamondbacks later announced Troy left with a right shoulder contusion.

Troy said postgame that he felt a sharp pain in his shoulder and that mobility was still difficult a couple hours after he exited.

Manager Torey Lovullo said Troy would be considered day-to-day. Ryan Waldschmidt is scheduled to start in center field on Sunday.

Jorge Barrosa entered the game in Troy’s place, the second straight day in which he replaced an injured Diamondbacks center fielder. Barrosa came in for Waldschmidt, who suffered a right thumb contusion on a bunt attempt, in Friday’s 9-3 win.

Troy hauled in a 392-foot fly ball from Dodgers outfielder Teoscar Hernandez, but he immediately grabbed his right shoulder after the catch. He flipped the ball to right fielder Corbin Carroll, who threw it back in.

Troy went 0-for-1 with a walk and a strikeout before exiting.

The Diamondbacks won the game, 9-2.
