The Arizona Diamondbacks reinstated outfielder Tommy Troy on Friday, almost two months after the rookie banged into the center field wall at Dodger Stadium.

Troy suffered the right shoulder contusion on July 11 as he was getting regular looks in left and center field for the previous month and a half.

Troy had a .223 batting average and .662 OPS in 39 games before his rookie campaign was put on pause.

Over seven rehab appearances in Triple-A Reno, Troy had one home run and three doubles while going 9 of 25 at the plate. He also walked six times with five strikeouts.

Outfielder Jorge Barrosa, who appeared in 138 games over the past three years in Arizona, was designated for assignment to make room for Troy. Barrosa has primarily been used as a pinch runner while batting a career-high .201 this season.

Arizona begins a six-game road trip on Friday that starts with the Houston Astros at 5:10 p.m. MST.
