Wild Card standings: D-backs jockeying for position with Padres
The Cubs, Phillies, Padres, Marlins and Cardinals are all fighting with the Diamondbacks to earn a Wild Card spot.
The Arizona Diamondbacks remain in the thick of the NL Wild Card hunt for the fourth straight season.
Reaching the postseason came down to the final week in the past three seasons. While a World Series appearance followed in 2023, the D-backs hope to break a 2-year-old trend of falling short in the standings this year.
The D-backs have dealt with star second baseman Ketel Marte no-showing his team in the heart of the playoff chase, not to mention plenty of injuries to starting pitchers both before and after the All-Star break.
The Chicago Cubs and Philadelphia Phillies have hovered atop the NL Wild Card race, while the San Diego Padres remain the main challengers of the Diamondbacks in the standings to grab the third and final available spot.

This is why there should be a massive house cleaning once the season is over.

Really? It's done with?
This epic tale of self-destruction isn't anywhere close to having been "dealt with". It's still festering like an untreated wound, covered with a new band-aid of excuses everyday.
Just look at the Padres and Phillies lineup and compare it to the Diamondbacks. It would have been an uphill climb with Marte, it's an impossible one without him. What a mess he has created, and a complete debacle by the Diamondbacks.
