Zac Gallen exits after comebacker to shoulder, Geraldo Perdomo also exits vs. Padres
Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen was hit by a comebacker and replaced by Brandon Pfaadt in wake of the right shoulder contusion.

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen was hit by a comebacker in the third inning of a 6-4 loss to the San Diego Padres on Saturday in Mexico City.
Shortstop Geraldo Perdomo also left the game, during the seventh inning when he suffered a left ankle sprain during a sequence where he committed a fielding error. The team said he is day-to-day going forward.
Gallen remained in the game after the 92.3 mph comebacker, but he exited with a right shoulder contusion after he finished the inning.

The infield single that Padres catcher Freddy Fermin got out of the sequence was the first hit surrendered by Gallen to that point. He finished off the final two batters in 10 pitches before being replaced by Pfaadt.
He gave up a solo home run in his first inning on the mound before getting tagged for three more earned runs in the seventh after he had exited and San Diego took advantage against Taylor Clarke.
It was the second instance of Pfaadt in long relief since he was moved to the bullpen upon Merrill Kelly returning to the rotation.
He previously replaced Ryne Nelson after Nelson had given up eight runs while getting just one out, Pfaadt offering 6.1 innings of scoreless baseball in relief.
Arizona and San Diego finish the two-game set in Mexico on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. MST on 98.7 and the Arizona Sports app.

KTAR Sports Headline should have been: Torey Lovullo doesn't go to bullpen after Pfaadt gives up a BB and a base hit in top of 7th.
Wash-rinse-repeat . . . Ugh. Hopefully they get the split today, and Gallen/Perdomo are okay . . . Dang.
It doesn't matter what Pfaadt did in his previous relief appearance. In the real world, an individual can't tell their boss: "I got that report completed on time eight years ago." or "I made my quota for the quarter six years ago." Individuals need to do their job every day or they are eventually replaced.
The bottom line is that Pfaadt failed to do his job yesterday. TL should have yanked him out after he gave up the first homer or after the BB and a base hit in the top of the 7th.
Also, TL failed to do his job by yanking Pfaadt...the objective is to win game. This why TL is a losing manager and will never win the WS.
