8 Suns players ruled out for final regular season game vs. Thunder

The Phoenix Suns and Oklahoma City Thunder will face off in a regular season finale on Sunday with nothing on the line for either side when it comes to playoff positioning.

The Suns clinched the No. 7 seed for the play-in tournament, earning home court for the game or two they’ll play in order to reach the first round. The Thunder secured the league’s best record, and with it comes home court throughout the entire playoffs.

Because neither team can go anywhere, Phoenix ruled out eight players for the finale and listed one other as available.

Suns injury listing ahead of regular season finale

Out:

• Devin Booker (right ankle injury management)
• Dillon Brooks (left second metacarpal injury management)
• Grayson Allen (left hamstring soreness) — after he left Friday’s contest
• Royce O’Neale (left knee injury management)
• Jalen Green (right knee soreness)
• Collin Gillespie (right shoulder contusion)
• Jordan Goodwin (left ankle sprain)
• Mark Williams (left foot injury management)

Available:

• Haywood Highsmith (right knee injury management)

Oklahoma City is taking its approach even further, ruling 10 players out. Only two players in the Thunder’s top 11 for minutes per game were left off the injury report: former ASU Sun Devil Luguentz Dort and wing Aaron Wiggins.

Out for Thunder:

• Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (right oblique injury management)
• Jalen Williams (right hamstring injury management)
• Chet Holmgren (low back spasms)
• Alex Caruso (rest)
• Cason Wallace (left great toe soreness)
• Isaiah Hartenstein (left soleus injury management)
• Jaylin Williams (right Achilles tendinitis)
• Isaiah Joe (left knee soreness)
• Ajay Mitchell (left ankle injury management)
• Thomas Sorber (ACL recovery)

There’s a chance these two teams meet in the first round of the playoffs.

For that to happen, Phoenix would have to lose its first game to whichever of the Portland Trail Blazers and Los Angeles Clippers finishes at No. 8. The Suns would then have to beat the winner of the 9-10 game, which will posit the No. 10 Golden State Warriors against the lower finisher between Portland and the Clippers.
