The Phoenix Suns held their position in the 2020 NBA Draft Lottery and will pick 10th in the 2020 NBA Draft.

The Suns entered the day with a 65.9% chance of landing the 10th overall selection. There was a 19% shot at drafting 11th, a 1.2% chance of drafting 12th and even smaller odds they would be bumped to 13th or 14th.

Phoenix also had a 3% chance at leading off the draft, with increasing odds of selecting second (3.3%), third (3.6%) or fourth (4%).

General manager James Jones represented Phoenix in the first ever virtual lottery event.

Because the NBA determined lottery odds based on team records on March 11, when coronavirus suspended play, the Suns’ 8-0 bubble run did not hurt their chances in the draft lottery. Phoenix entered the bubble with a 26-39 record and finished 34-39.

The Suns finished with a better winning percentage than four teams with worse lottery odds heading into Thursday.

They also have the same record as a fifth team, the Memphis Grizzlies, who have the 14th-best odds.

Ping pong balls in the lottery determine the first four picks in the draft, and the current standings fill in from those March 11 reverse standings based on record.
