By the numbers: The Phoenix Suns at the All-Star break

The Phoenix Suns enter the 2022 NBA All-Star break as the most dominant team in the league.

At 48-10, Phoenix stands 6.5 games ahead of the Golden State Warriors in the standings.

After a strong 58 games, the Suns get a week to recharge and prepare for a final regular season push and another postseason run.

But before we return from the break, let’s take a look back at the team’s success so far this season, by the numbers.

Streaking to the All-Star Game

With a 124-121 win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, Phoenix heads into All-Star break on a seven-game winning streak. It marks the third time this season the Suns have won at least seven straight.

Phoenix’s 18-game win streak from Oct. 30 to Dec. 2 set a new franchise record. The Suns also rattled off 11 straight victories from Jan. 11 to Feb. 1.

Two-way team

The Suns have it going on both ends, ranking third in offensive rating and third in defensive rating.

Put it together, and Phoenix has the top net rating in the NBA of 8.1, well ahead of the next three teams in the Utah Jazz (6.9), Golden State Warriors (6.8) and Boston Celtics (5.4).

Dirty 30

Suns guard Devin Booker continues to put up consistent point totals in Year 7.

This season (51 games), the guard is averaging 25.5 points per game. He’s shooting 44.6% overall and 36.9% from long range.

And when he’s on, he’s on, posting 18 games with at least 30 points scored. He’s hit the 40-point echelon twice this year, once on Jan. 17 (48) and again on Jan. 26 (43).

Dropping dimes

Suns point guard Chris Paul has been on one when it comes to dishing the rock.

Paul is averaging 10.7 assists per game to go along with 14.9 points and 4.5 rebounds over 33 minutes per game. Entering the break, Paul paces the NBA in assists per contest.

The point guard has had 18 games with at least 13 assists, highlighted by two 19-assist efforts on Jan. 30 and Feb. 10.

As a team, the Suns average 27 assists per game, fifth best in the NBA.

Phoenix has also done a good job at taking care of the rock, turning the ball over 12.4 times per game, tied for sixth fewest in the league.

Bashing for boards

In terms of cleaning up the glass, Phoenix is averaging 46.2 rebounds per game, fourth best in the NBA.

Leading the way in the rebounds department for the Suns is center Deandre Ayton. Through 37 games played, the center is averaging 10.5 boards per game.

His backups are also producing, with both JaVale McGee and Bismack Biyombo averaging 6.9 and 6.4 rebounds per contest.
