Phoenix Suns forward Cam Johnson is out for Tuesday’s game in Toronto against the Raptors due to a sprained left ankle.

With under a minute to go in Saturday’s loss to the Miami Heat, Johnson appeared to injure the ankle on a drive to the basket.

Johnson has been playing the best basketball of his career. He’s scored in double figures for 19 straight games after previously never having a streak reach above three games. Johnson is averaging 15.6 points per game across that stretch and is shooting a team-best 47.4% from three-point range.

That included the six-game stretch that forward Jae Crowder missed due to health and safety protocols, which put Johnson into the starting lineup.

Monday’s injury report gives the Suns an uphill battle in the wing rotation. Johnson joins Ish Wainright (COVID-19 protocols) and Justin Jackson (not with team) as two other forwards that are additions and listed as out for Tuesday’s game in Toronto. That leaves Crowder and Mikal Bridges as the lone healthy forwards remaining.

A good update for Phoenix on Monday is the potential return of guard Landry Shamet, who was in the protocols for the Suns’ last three games. He is now out of them and listed as probable.

Tuesday’s game is a 5:30 p.m. start you can hear on ESPN 620 AM and 98.7 FM HD-2.
