Kevin Durant featured in Starting 5 Season 2 on Netflix

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant will be featured in the second season of Netflix’s Starting 5, the streaming service announced.

The documentary series covering at least part of the 2024-25 season will also follow Indiana’s Tyrese Haliburton, Oklahoma City’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Boston’s Jaylen Brown and the Los Angeles Clippers’ James Harden.

The first season of Starting 5 came out on Oct. 9. Its cast includes Miami’s Jimmy Butler, Minnesota’s Anthony Edwards, Sacramento’s Domantas Sabonis, Boston’s Jayson Tatum and the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James.

The show is produced by UNINTERRUPTED, Higher Ground Productions and Omaha Productions.

The executive producers for the first season included James’ longtime friends Maverick Carter and Randy Mims (UNINTERRUPTED), former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama (Higher Ground), as well as former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning (Omaha).

The first season included 10 episodes around 45 minutes each.

What are we looking forward to seeing in Starting 5’s second season?

The draw for Suns fans would be obvious: Durant enters his third season — under a third head coach — with Phoenix, which has begun the season with better vibes and more optimism than a year ago.

Durant has already become the eighth player in NBA history to cross the 29,000-point threshold and through four games looks like his best self at 36 years old. He is averaging 29.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.

Beyond Durant, the documentary will cover Brown coming off a Team USA Olympics roster snub. He and Tatum are hoping to lead the title-favorite Celtics back to another deep postseason run.

Harden’s fingerprints will be all over a Clippers team by default. Los Angeles lost Paul George in free agency and is without an again-injured Kawhi Leonard with a legal fight in the background between the team and Leonard’s former trainer.

The limelight is fully on Pacers guard Haliburton after last season, while Gilgeous-Alexander not only has the scariest team in the Western Conference to lead but arguably the best fashion game in the league.
