Upon the change in format to this year’s NBA All-Star Game, the league had its captains draft their teams on Thursday.

It is the 15th All-Star selection for Durant over his 17-year-career and his second consecutive as a member of the Suns.

Durant is sixth in the NBA in scoring at 26.9 points per game. He has missed 11 games this season due to calf, ankle and thumb injuries. Durant has previously said he “hates” the new All-Star Game format.

The NBA All-Star Game is on Sunday, Feb. 16, in San Francisco and is comprised of a tournament-style format after recent iterations saw player-captains picking their teams and an East vs. West format return last season.

Each of the four teams will feature eight players. Three of the teams will be made up of the 24 NBA All-Stars while the last team will be composed of winners from the Rising Stars tournament.

Two teams will square off in one semifinal and will take on the winner of the other semifinal for the championship.

TNT analysts Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith took turns selecting their teams from the 24-player All-Star pool.

Who will coach the NBA All-Star teams?

Because the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers have the best records in their respective conferences, Oklahoma City’s Mark Daigneault will coach one team while Cleveland’s Kenny Atkinson will coach another. Their assistants will coach the other teams.

What is the NBA All-Star Game prize money?

There is a total prize pool of $1.8 million for the All-Star Game.

Each player on the winning team receives $125,000, players on the team that lose in the championship will earn $50,000 and the players on the teams eliminated in the semifinals will each receive $25,000.

The All-Star Game court and jerseys were also revealed on Thursday, with both designs paying homage to the Bay Area.

The font on the jerseys draws inspiration from Oakland’s Theater District, while imagery on the waistband of the shorts and side of the jerseys gives a nod to Oakland’s oak trees.

Meanwhile, the court represents the different communities and cultures that make up the Bay Area.

The Chuckster must've went to the James Jones School of Roster Construction.

6 PF/C's & 2 guards lol

"I hate it" says KD....of course he does....Adam Silver is trying to bring back some competition to the All-Star game while all KD wants to do is hit some uncontested elbow jumpers & then go out & party.
btw....the NBA no longer tests for MJ use.

Haven't watched the All-Star game in years & the Dunk Contest should be ended....no manufactured dunk can match a big time dunk during live NBA action.
I would watch a 3pt shooting contest if it had the right participants.

Check out Jerry West & Walt Frazier going at it in the 1972 All-Star game if you want to see how it used to be played.
