Report: Suns re-sign Mark Williams to 3-year deal

The Phoenix Suns and restricted free agent Mark Williams have agreed to terms on a three-year contract, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on Thursday.
The deal is worth $38 million and is fully guaranteed.
The Suns have had a busy offseason bringing back key players from last season, previously agreeing to retain Collin Gillespie and Jordan Goodwin.
Gillespie agreed to a four-year, $48 million deal, while Goodwin will return on a three-year, $19 million deal.
Phoenix has 15 rostered players, a full team, after drafting Koa Peat with the No. 30 overall pick on Tuesday. The team is $5.1 million under the second-apron, according to Spotrac’s Keith Smith.
Williams, 24, played a career-high 60 games last season, starting 55 of them. He averaged 11.7 points, eight rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game in his first campaign with the Suns.
The 7-foot-1 center missed time with a foot injury, along with injury management from previous ailments.
Phoenix traded the No. 29 pick in last year’s draft and a 2029 first-rounder to the Charlotte Hornets for Williams on draft night a year ago.
Williams returns to a big man rotation with Oso Ighodaro and Khaman Maluach.
He will have to pick a new jersey number, though, as Devin Booker switched to No. 15.

Glad it's only 3 years. This gives Maluach time to keep developing without having to be the main guy at 19 years old. The contract runs out when Maluach is 22, right about the age he will hopefully be ready to be the guy. If he is ready sooner and Williams can stay fairly healthy, he becomes a trade chip when the 3rd years comes around.
So that’s it? The same squad? No more deals? Trade chips for more length and size? Didn’t we get swept by the Thunder? More importantly, didn’t we learn anything from it?😬😳🤷🏽
We didn’t have a full season with Green. Allen was out way too much and we lost Goodwin at the wrong time.
I think we need to make a few small moves but suns were noticeably better with Williams on the court
