When the NBA introduced the three-point field goal in time for the 1979-80 season, I’m not sure even the most adventurous thinkers could’ve imagined just how big a part of the game it would become 40 years later.

That first season, the Los Angeles Lakers, who would go on to win the NBA Finals in six games over the Philadelphia 76ers, made 20 three-pointers all year (and exploded for three more in the playoffs). The Phoenix Suns made a total of 68 threes in 82 games. To put that into perspective, the Suns made 78 three-pointers in their last seven games prior to Monday night’s game with the San Antonio Spurs.

So over the last four decades the three has become a bigger part of the game and it’s here to stay.

We’ve given you the team, the number of threes and the years each player spent with that franchise. All you have to do is name the player.

You’ve got eight minutes to complete this quiz … good luck!
