The Phoenix Suns can act as if the first game of their virtual season never happened.

After losing the first game of their rest-of-season broadcast on Twitch via NBA2K20, the Suns with Ty Jerome at the helm beat the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Josh Okogie 93-63.

The Suns plan to get more players involved throughout the process as they play out the remainder of their season online while the NBA’s season is suspended due to the spread of the coronavirus.

The game itself was close through the first quarter as both players got acclimated at a tied-up score of 18.

But Jerome started to notice Okogie’s weak transition defense and even worse rim protection. Jerome wanted to push the pace and get to the rim as much as possible, seeing tons of success in doing so.

Even after some missed layups, Jerome got rolling and was up seven at halftime. From there, it was a 45-22 rout in the second half.

That included some hype for Jerome to his own virtual self. He didn’t get the dunk he wanted out of his character but was still excited.

Okogie’s offense completely stalled out, as Jerome’s prowess on the ball presented problems and forced 16 Minnesota turnovers. The vision of the Minnesota ball-handlers with Okogie in control was an issue all game long.

Not much changed from the real world where the Timberwolves have no answer for Devin Booker. The shooting guard scored 35 points against Minnesota in November and in the 2K world dropped 29 on Okogie.

Jerome shot a healthy 3-for-6 from the field with himself for eight points and three assists.

The Suns’ next scheduled game is Friday against the Los Angeles Clippers.
