The Phoenix Suns agreed to terms with undrafted free agent Sam Hoiberg out of Nebraska, insider Jake Fischer from the Stein Line first reported after the NBA Draft on Wednesday.

Hoiberg, a 6-foot guard, shared the report on his Instagram story, and his agency, Priority Sports, later confirmed the move.

The Suns made one pick in the draft, trading up to No. 30 to select Arizona forward Koa Peat. They traded their No. 47 pick and did not move back into the second round.

Hoiberg, 23, is the son of former NBA player, Chicago Bulls head coach and current Nebraska head coach, Fred Hoiberg.

With Nebraska, Hoiberg made the Big Ten All-Defensive Team for this past season and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention.

He started 35 games and put up 9.3 points per game with 5.3 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.0 steals. He shot 38.1% from beyond the arc on 84 attempts.

Hoiberg spent five years at Nebraska, redshirting in 2021-22 as a walk-on before seeing his role grow each season.

Fred Hoiberg played 10 seasons in the NBA with the Indiana Pacers, Bulls and Minnesota Timberwolves. He coached the Bulls from 2015-19 and has led the Cornhuskers since 2019.
