Vinny’s View: Suns have hit every type of hard this season

The 2025-26 season for the Phoenix Suns has been hard.

It started out as hard to believe in, with a bunch of new faces on a revamped roster, a brand new coaching staff and no real expectations for team success.

Things quickly turned into the realization of how hard this team played.

Several improbable wins, including one over Minnesota in November, advertised that these Suns are hard to kill.

But now in February, several Phoenix players have had a hard time staying healthy, the ones playing are having a hard time scoring and the overall product is currently hard to watch.

The Suns lost to the Boston Celtics 97-81 at Mortgage Matchup Center on Tuesday night in another performance that set offensive basketball back several years.

Phoenix scored 81 points. Couple that with the 77 they posted in Sunday’s loss to Portland, and this is the first time Phoenix has scored 81 or less in two consecutive games in 11 years.

Jalen Green played in his fourth straight game for the Suns, but he’s yet to get going offensively.

Tuesday, he had just 13 points on 5-of-18 shooting. Green has never been an efficient shooter in the league, but his 28% mark from the floor and 15.4% connection rate from three-point range aren’t going to cut it.

The Suns’ heart, soul and offense are all in street clothes right now — a fact that’s currently hard to swallow for this team in what’s been a revelation of a season in many ways.
