ASU men’s basketball lands commitment from 6-foot-10 San Diego transfer Santiago Trouet

Former San Diego forward Santiago Trouet announced his commitment to ASU men’s basketball on Saturday.

The 6-foot-10, 218-pound Argentine had 10 points and six rebounds in 18 minutes during a 37-point loss to Arizona State on Dec. 3 as a sophomore. His final minutes of his freshman season came in a five-point win over ASU on Dec. 9, 2023, in which he had seven rebounds and zero points on one shot.

He averaged 8.7 points, 6.8 rebounds and one steal in 25.3 minutes per game as a sophomore while shooting 50.2% on 2-pointers but 20.7% on 3s (12-for-58 over the season).

Trouet had a career-high 21 points on Feb. 27 against Washington State along with three steals. He also had a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double earlier in the season against Santa Clara, which ASU had defeated by seven less than two months earlier.

How does Santiago Trouet fit into ASU men’s basketball roster?

Trouet, at 6-foot-10, becomes the tallest Sun Devil on the roster following 7-foot-1 Icelandic center Leo Curtis’ recent de-commitment.

He’s the seventh transfer commitment in a 2025 class that includes four incoming freshmen as well. None of the transfers have come from power conferences, and none of the freshmen are ranked higher than No. 85 (Jaion Pitt).

With Trevor Best as the team’s lone holdover from 2024-25, Trouet makes 12 players on head coach Bobby Hurley’s roster.

He’s the third international player added, joining forwards Andrija Grbovic of Montenegro and Pitt of Canada.
