Arizona State RB Cam Skattebo on track to play at Kansas State

Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo is set to play in Saturday’s game at No. 20 Kansas State, a pivotal matchup for ASU’s Big 12 championship chances, barring a setback, head coach Kenny Dillingham told reporters on Wednesday.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel previously reported Skattebo was “on track” to play.

A shoulder injury kept Skattebo off the field last weekend when the Sun Devils defeated UCF 35-31 at Mountain America Stadium. Skattebo had previously never missed a game for ASU since his debut at the start of last season.

Skattebo practiced on Tuesday and Wednesday after Dillingham said the running back would be questionable for Saturday’s matchup coming into the week.

“He was trying to get me to put him in the game in the middle of the third quarter, like, ‘Let me go get suited up,'” Dillingham said on Monday. “‘No, no, you’re not going to get suited up. Not happening.'”

The senior remains second in FBS with 1,405 all-purpose yards and eighth in rushing yards per game at 125. In his last game played at Oklahoma State, Skattebo ran for 153 yards and a touchdown while tacking on 121 receiving yards with two more touchdown catches.

Arizona State and Kansas State are both 4-2 and tied for third place in the Big 12 standings with only three games remaining.
