Report: ASU DT MyKeil Gardner to miss another whole season with ruptured Achilles

Arizona State defensive tackle MyKeil Gardner will miss the 2026 season due to a ruptured Achilles tendon, for his second consecutive lost year with the Sun Devils, according to SunDevilSource.com’s Chris Karpman.

The redshirt sophomore and Liberty High School product was in the mix for a starting role this ASU spring camp, Karpman said Monday, after working back from the same injury in his other leg last season.

Gardner has only logged three games of collegiate action across his career, all of those coming in 2024 as a freshman at Oregon.

He was ranked as a four-star prospect by ESPN and in the top 100 (No. 59) nationally among defensive lineman by 247 Sports.

The Sun Devils’ D-line, however, features arguably the most talented player on the entire roster in C.J. Fite, who has played 38 games and recorded 76 tackles in three seasons for head coach Kenny Dillingham.

Karpman added that others like Blazen Lono-Wong (redshirt junior) and Rashad McKenzie (redshirt junior) have ample experience in the defensive line system in the face of losing Gardner for another season.
