Following an upset 24-20 loss to Mississippi State on Saturday, ASU football fell out of the Associated Press Top 25 rankings.
The Sun Devils were No. 11 in the preseason poll and had already dropped their positioning one spot after an unconvincing Week 1 win against Northern Arizona.
It only took two games to completely lose national favor, with the loss to the Bulldogs doubling as a heartbreaker due to a 20-point rally falling just short.
In the US LBM Coaches Poll, ASU fell 14 places to No. 24.
How is rest of Big 12 faring compared to ASU football?
Three Big 12 teams are in the latest AP poll, with Iowa State leading the pack at No. 14. It surged upward two spots after a 16-13 rivalry game win over Iowa while Utah (No. 20) rose five and Texas Tech (No. 21) went up three.
The SEC has the most ranked teams (11), with the Big Ten boasting six and the ACC and Big 12 with three apiece.

Out of the AP top 25 after game 2. How sad. This is the result when you go down 17-0 due to dismal play. And when you give up TWO long TD bombs. Both the defense and the offense offered excuses for this loss to a unranked team.
The coaches must have forgotten the Texas game.
Do not want to hear Sam Leavitt and Heisman used in the same sentence. The young man needs to wipe the smirk off his face and realize that for 2 games he has shown the football world that he is nothing. His awful play was infuriating.
