Cam Skattebo tears up as Eddie George lends him advice to begin his NFL career

Cam Skattebo played for a three-win Arizona State football team and an 11-win football team all the same, needing zero outside motivation to fuel him.

Well, in case getting drafted by the New York Giants and having an opportunity for snaps as a rookie aren’t enough as he becomes a professional, Skattebo has at least one bit of extra juice thanks to Fanatics’ annual rookie hookup.

The sports apparel brand set up some of the well-known rookies in a makeshift locker room with a video, where a recording of an NFL legend or current player put their rookie status and path ahead in perspective.

“Begin this journey with the end in mind and you’ll be just fine, my man,” former Titans running back great Eddie George told Skattebo in his personalized message to the ASU product.

Skattebo read George’s signed jersey aloud.

“‘To Cameron, AKA, Skatt: Good luck, stay focused,'” Skattebo said before taking a moment with tears flowing. “It means a lot just knowing how much he cares, because it’s coming from a great and somebody that has done it and knows what it takes. And I know he’s there for me if I need it.”

Peyton and Eli Manning, Jerry Rice, Joe Montana, Tom Brady, Barry Sanders, Marcus Allen, Tim Brown, Micah Parsons and Justin Herbert were among the past and present stars who gave other rookies individualized words of advice — plus a signed jersey.

Skattebo’s college rival, Arizona Wildcats product Tetairoa McMillan, was picked eighth overall by the Carolina Panthers in the draft and was also featured in the video.

“Congratulations on getting drafted, putting on for The Culture,” Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua told McMillan, a fellow Hawaiian-born receiver who won the Polynesian High School Player of the Year Award in 2021, three years after Nacua did so. “Excited to see your journey, man.”
