Offensive tackle Jarmaine Mitchell, the No. 1 junior college recruit for the 2026 class ranked by 247Sports, has committed to Arizona State football, he announced on social media on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-8, 310-pound tackle had previously committed to Georgia after decommitting from Mississippi State, but he has flipped to ASU to bolster the Sun Devil offensive line.

Mitchell additionally received offers from Ole Miss, LSU and Colorado.

Mitchell is transferring from the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves in Mississippi, where he played 10 games this season. The Louisiana native just received NJCAA All-Region 23 honors.

ASU has a veteran starting offensive line this year with left tackle Josh Atkins, left guard Jimeto Obigbo, right guard Kyle Scott and right tackle Max Iheanachor all redshirt seniors. Injured interior offensive lineman Ben Coleman is a grad student.

Mitchell will slide in as a candidate to start at a tackle spot next season to protect quarterback Sam Leavitt or whomever replaces him.

Tuesday got off to an eventful start for coach Kenny Dillingham’s program, as ASU landed 2027 four-star wide receiver recruit Nico Bland out of Southern California before Mitchell announced his decision.
