3 Sun Devils honored with Big 12 Player of the Week awards

Arizona State was well represented in the Big 12 weekly college football awards with quarterback Jeff Sims, linebacker Jordan Crook and kicker Jesus Gomez all earning honors.

Sims was one of two players named Offensive Player of the Week for outstanding game, becoming the first Sun Devil in 30 years to pass for 175 yards and run for 75 yards in consecutive games.

His three touchdown passes were the icing on the cake for the backup quarterback.

It was a career day for Crook who racked up a career high 14 tackles, including 10 solo. He was one of two players awarded Defensive Player of the Week.

The 14 tackles were the most by an ASU player since 2022.

Gomez was selected as Special Teams Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.

He was 1-for-2 on field goal attempts, drilling a 49-yard go-ahead field goal with 2:44 left to play in the fourth quarter.

His three game-winning kicks in the final three minutes of games this season ties him for the Big 12 single-season record.

Gomez was perfect on his extra point attempts and completed a pass to Cameron Harpole for a two-point conversion in the first half.

The Sun Devils needed all they could get out of Sims, Crook and Gomez to squeeze out a 25-23 win over West Virginia.

They take on Colorado next week on the road.
