Arizona State-Utah game in Salt Lake City starts 10 minutes late due to weather

Arizona State and Utah started their Saturday night game in Salt Lake City 10 minutes late, as a lightning threat delayed pregame warmups.

ASU-Utah was scheduled for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff and ended up kicking off at 7:25 p.m., according to Utah Athletics.

Backup Sun Devil quarterback Jeff Sims started for an injured Sam Leavitt.

The matchup could end up having a massive impact on the Big 12 standings, as ASU and Utah are among the contenders fighting for a path to the title game.

The Sun Devils will play league frontrunner Texas Tech the following week.

Storms in Arizona had also delayed the Arizona-BYU game, which started at 5 p.m. MST and entered a delay around 5:50 p.m. ahead of the second quarter starting.
