Arizona State football announced its first opponent for the 2028 season: the Southern Miss Golden Eagles of the Sun Belt Conference.
The matchup will be a one-game series at Mountain America Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2028.
This will be the first-ever matchup between these two programs.

Arizona State is 3-2 this season with a matchup against No. 10 Texas Tech on Saturday.
Southern Miss is 1-4 this season. The Golden Eagles have not played west of Texas since 2013.
ASU has 2028 nonconference games scheduled with Northern Arizona and San Diego State. Florida cancelled a home-and-home series scheduled to begin in 2028 in Tempe last year.
