ASU TE Khamari Anderson will miss ‘significant amount of time’ with left leg injury

Arizona State starting tight end Khamari Anderson stayed down after the Sun Devils’ second offensive play and exited the Union Jack Classic against Kansas in London, which ASU won 24-17.

Head coach Kenny Dillingham told reporters postgame he will miss “a significant amount of time.”

Kansas defensive end Leroy Harris III rolled over the back of Anderson’s left leg on the run play.

Anderson emerged from the medical tent with a boot and on crutches before he was carted off to the locker room, according to FS1 sideline reporter Alexa Landestoy.

Anderson previously suffered a right leg injury at the end of spring camp that he worked back from and was active for the opener in a limited capacity.

The tight end has one catch for 21 yards on the year, and he had five catches for 24 yards and a touchdown in 2025. Prior to that, he was at Kentucky for two seasons, including for now-ASU quarterback Cutter Boley’s freshman season.

Anderson has been a clear leader in the tight end room both in terms of on- and off-the-field impact, and he’s one of 10 Sun Devils on the Tillman Leadership Council. One other member of the council, linebacker Zyrus Fiaseu, already suffered his own significant injury and is out for the season.

Behind him, reps will go to A.J. Ia, who represents more of a receiving threat but was probable on the availability report entering the matchup, as well as Anthony Miller and James Giggey.

Giggey had two penalties in the game’s first 19 minutes, the second of which negated a fourth-down conversion and the ensuing punt was returned for a touchdown by Kansas.
