5-star guard Brayden Burries down to 5 schools, including Arizona

Five-star guard Brayden Burries is down to five potential schools, including the Arizona Wildcats, and told reporters at the McDonald’s All American Game prep this week that he is close to making a decision.

Burries, who is from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Eastvale, California, told ESPN’s Paul Biancardi that he is considering Arizona, Oregon, Alabama, Tennessee and USC. He will make a decision in the next one or two weeks, he added.

The 6-foot-4 guard is one of two non-committee players who will appear at the prestigious McDonald’s event. He is ranked No. 11 in the 2025 recruiting class by the 247 Sports composite and ESPN.

Burries officially visited Tucson in February and, if he chooses the Wildcats, would join a class that includes recently committed forward Koa Peat, four-star wing Dwayne Aristode and three-star guard Bryce James, the son of LeBron James.

Arizona has the 16th-ranked class for 2025 as of Monday morning, according to 247 Sports.

Peat was asked Monday at a McDonald’s All American press conference about teaming up with Burries at Arizona:

“I think me and him would complement each other well,” Peat said, according to Adam Zagoria.

The Wildcats fell in the Sweet 16 to Duke and face several roster questions looking ahead.

What is known is this: There is plenty of room for additions on the wings for head coach Tommy Lloyd looking to next season.

Leading scorer Caleb Love and starting power forward Trey Townsend exhausted their eligibility, while backup rotation guard KJ Lewis entered the transfer portal over the weekend.

Backup wing Carter Bryant, a McDonald’s All American in 2024, must decide whether he will enter the NBA Draft, where he is potentially a first-round pick despite his limited role off the bench as a freshman.

Arizona could return point guard Jaden Bradley, as well as the big-man foursome of Tobe Awaka, Henri Veesaar, Motiejus Krivas and Emmanuel Stephen.

But other than shooting specialist Anthony Dell’Oro, the playing time at the 2 through the 4 spots are open for the incoming freshmen and potential transfers to earn.
