Brayden Burries invited to NBA Draft green room, Koa Peat not among first wave of invitees

Arizona guard Brayden Burries was among the 14 NBA Draft prospects invited to the green room on Tuesday, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Woo.

Burries’ Arizona teammate Koa Peat was not among the first wave of invitees.

Located next to the draft podium, the green room serves as the waiting area for top NBA prospects, their families and agents during the draft. Players are permitted to bring up to six guests at their individual tables.

To determine who receives an invite, the league surveys front-office executives across the first round, compiling a vote on the top 25 players most likely to be selected early. This screening process helps avoid the uncomfortable situation of a player waiting extensively long on national television before their name is called.

Last year, 24 prospects were invited to the green room, and 13 invitations went sent out in the first wave. All 24 of the players who received invitations were taken in the first round.

With the NBA draft spanning two days since 2024, the league will also send out additonal invites for the second round. Last year, the league sent out 12 more invites for players expected to be taken in the second round.

Where will Brayden Burries and Koa Peat be selected in the 2026 NBA Draft?

Burries has lately been mocked going to the Dallas Mavericks with the No. 9 overall pick. CBS Sports’ Adam Finkelstein reported there is “growing evidence (Dallas) is where Brayden Burries and his representatives want to be.”

Sam Vecenie, who covers the draft, college basketball and the NBA for The Athletic, added, “Burries is the name I hear the most with Dallas … with sources around the lottery trying to determine why he’s not working out in as many places as you’d expect given his standing at the start of the process.”

Finkelstein said Burries has interest from teams higher up in the draft than Dallas and those teams have been wanting to work Burries out, but Burries is yet to attend many of those workouts.

Burries is represented by Klutch Sports, who have pulled off similar maneuvers of getting their clients drafted by their preferred destinations in the past. Klutch directed Khaman Maluach to the Phoenix Suns at the No. 10 spot last season, guided Dereck Lively II to the Mavericks in 2023 and did the same with Bronny James and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2024.

Peat, another Klutch client, has been frequently mocked going to the Philadelphia 76ers with the No. 22 overall pick. ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel reported, “The rumor around the NBA right now regarding Peat is that his camp is angling to try and get Philadelphia to take him, which would pair him with Maxey, another fellow Klutch client.”

When is the 2026 NBA Draft?

The 2026 NBA Draft will be held over two days at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The first round will take place on June 23 at 5 p.m. and the second round will be held the following night at 5 p.m.
