Arizona’s Love makes All-Big 12, ASU’s Quaintance on All-Defensive team

Arizona Wildcats senior Caleb Love was named to the 2024-25 All-Big 12 First Team on Monday.

After turning down a chance to go pro after his first season at Arizona, Love averaged 16.4 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game while shooting 38% overall and 32% from 3-point range.

Arizona teammates Henri Veesaar and Tobe Awaka earned honorable mention in the voting for the Wildcats’ first season in the league.

Arizona State’s Jayden Quaintance made the five-man teams for All-Freshman and All-Defensive after he averaged 9.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 1.1 steals per game.

Quaintance came up short in the Big 12 Freshman of the Year race behind Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe, who also made the All-Big 12 Second Team.

Texas Tech’s JT Toppin earned both Big 12 Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. The New Mexico transfer averaged 18.1 points and 9.3 boards per game for the Red Raiders.
