Report: Arizona transfer Sidi Gueye commits to Santa Clara

Arizona transfer Sidi Gueye has committed to Santa Clara, according to Draft Express' Jonathan Givony.

Arizona transfer Sidi Gueye has committed to Santa Clara, according to Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony.

Givony added that at just 18 years old, Gueye has significant long-term upside for the Broncos.

The freshman played in 26 games off the bench last season, averaging 3.4 minutes per game.

Gueye totaled 33 points, 20 rebounds, eight blocks, five assists and two steals in his 26 games.

The 6-foot-11 Senegalese forward played seven minutes in Arizona’s first-round NCAA Tournament matchup with LIU and scored four points, collected a couple of blocks and rebounds.

Prior to playing for Arizona, Gueye played overseas for Real Madrid since 2021.

Gueye is a physical specimen with a wingspan measured at 7-foot-4 and didn’t start playing basketball until he was 12 years old.

Sidi Gueye transferring to Santa Clara will be a nothing burger. Arizona likely won't even notice he's gone.

Douglas... Come on now: "Gueye is a physical specimen with a wingspan measured at 7-foot-4 and didn’t start playing basketball until he was 12 years old"... Hardly a physical specimen!! Gueye got absolutely pushed around. He's a project. If he fills out, maybe he can contribute. He's also very awkward and not very coordinated. You can see he didn't start playing basketball until a much later age. Santa Clara will have to be very patient with him. He's still years away from making an impact for any basketball program! Sad to see him go.. It would have been fun to watch him develop. But that's the world we live in...
