Arizona OG on The Athletic’s ‘Freaks List’

Arizona offensive guard Alexander Doost was named to The Athletic’s “Freaks List” for 2026.

Bruce Feldman’s annual list, which has published annually for more than two decades, is a ranking of players who are “just different,” in his words.

The list is comprised of 101 players who can jump disproportionately high or far or run disproportionately fast for their stature, and Doost came in at No. 84.

The 6-foot-7, 348-pound right guard bench-pressed 440 pounds, power-cleaned 405 and back-squatted 650 pounds this offseason, per Feldman.

But that’s not where his athleticism stops. He also vertical-jumped 30 inches, broad-jumped 9-0, hit 18 mph on the GPS and was able to climb a rope 25 feet to reach the ceiling.

The Valley product out of Glendale Mountain Ridge High School enters his third year as a starter for the Wildcats after being named a Pro Football Focus (PFF) Freshman All-American in 2024. He has started 22 consecutive games and posted a PFF pass blocking grade of 75.7 last season.

Doost began his career at Northwestern but transferred after not seeing the field during the 2023 season.

As a high schooler, he was the No. 18 overall recruit in the state of Arizona and his grandfather helped build part of Casino Del Sol Stadium.
