If you found yourself at Dirtbag’s following No. 22 Arizona football’s 39-3 win over Iowa State on Saturday, then you may have received a gift from head coach Brent Brennan.

That game during homecoming weekend marked the Wildcats’ fifth straight win, and Brennan celebrated by buying 300 tequila shots for fans at the popular Tucson bar just off campus.

“I think it’s important that if you want people to show up for you, you have to show up for them,” Brennan told reporters on Monday. “It was an expensive five minutes, but it was a good five minutes.”

Earlier on Saturday, Arizona dominated Iowa State behind a 308-yard, two-touchdown performance from quarterback Noah Fifita, and eight catches for 134 yards and a touchdown from wide receiver Isaiah Mizell.

With Arizona’s win coinciding with losses by BYU and Texas Tech, the Wildcats are now in strong contention for the College Football Playoff and conference title. The fans have shown up, selling out their game against the Cyclones.

“It was great. There was a lot of excitement,” Brennan said. “So, it was fun to see the fans and the alums celebrating at a place that’s kind of been a part of the University of Arizona for a long time.”

Arizona travels to Lubbock, Texas, on Saturday to face 13th-ranked Texas Tech.
