The Arizona Wildcats remain unranked in the AP Top 25 poll following their 52-31 win over West Virginia.

Despite being the winners of four straight games while off to their best start since 2014, the Wildcats (5-1, 2-1) received the 28th-most votes in this week’s AP Top 25 poll.

The Wildcats were looking to match a program record of being ranked for a fourth straight season (1992-95). The Wildcats went more than six years without being ranked following a loss in 2017 until they reentered the poll in 2023.

Arizona’s lone loss this season came during a Week 2 trip to Provo, where the Wildcats fell 28-17 to now-No. 8 BYU after leading at the half.

Following a bye this Saturday, Arizona has a chance to clinch bowl eligibility when the Wildcats face Iowa State at home on Oct. 24.

Looking to secure their fifth 10-win season in program history, the Wildcats continue the second half of the season with a road trip to No. 10 Texas Tech on Oct. 31. They then return home to face TCU on Nov. 6 and host No. 11 Utah on Nov. 14. Arizona travels to Kansas State on Nov. 21 before closing out the regular season by hosting Arizona State in the Territorial Cup on Nov. 28.

Major upsets shake up this week’s poll

Saturday saw six ranked teams lose to shake up this week’s iteration of the AP Top 25. Last week’s No. 1 Texas fell to previously unranked Oklahoma for the Sooners’ first win vs. a top-ranked team since 2007. Also on Saturday, previous No. 2 ranked Georgia controversially beat then-No. 6 Alabama to take the top spot in this week’s rankings.

Sam Leavitt and then-No. 10 LSU fell to Kentucky in overtime. Oregon lost to an undefeated UCLA squad in a 10-turnover affair, marking the Bruins’ first win in Eugene since 2004. South Carolina doubled up then-No. 16 Florida, 38-19, in Gainesville, while Pittsburgh lost at home to North Carolina, handing Bill Belichick his first win against a ranked opponent.
