Fiesta Bowl fireworks: TCU and Michigan light up 3rd quarter scoreboard

After a relatively quiet first half, TCU and Michigan came out guns blazing in the third quarter of the Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium.

After a relatively quiet first half, TCU and Michigan came out guns blazing in the third quarter of the Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium.

Six touchdowns and a field goal were scored in the third quarter alone as Michigan out paced the Horned Frogs 24-20 to cut into the 15-point lead that TCU held at halftime.

Michigan started the scoring off with a field goal at the 9:29 mark, then got on the board with their first touchdown of the game with 6:32 remaining on a 34-yard flea-flicker pass from J.J. McCarthy to Ronnie Bell.

After that, TCU tacked on two touchdowns in a minute and a half from a one-yard plunge by Emari Demercado and a 29-yard pick-six by Dee Winters.

Their were three more rushing touchdowns to end the quarter, one by each quarterback. McCarthy scampered for a 20-yard run while TCU QB Max Duggan plunged one in from one yard out.

The final score of the quarter was converted by Kalel Mullings on a one-yard run.
