Arizona Wildcats athletes Koa Peat and Quincy Craig receive weekly Big 12 honors

Arizona Wildcats basketball and football both had players named in the Big 12 weekly honors, as Koa Peat an Quincy Craig were both recognized.

Arizona Wildcats forward Koa Peat was named Big 12 co-player of week and newcomer of the week for the basketball program on Monday. For football, running back Quincy Craig was named Big 12 co-offensive player of the week.

At the Hall of Fame series in Las Vegas, Peat led the Wildcats with 30 points in their 93-87 win over the defending champion Florida Gators. He also had seven rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block.

Peat then scored 18 points in the team’s 93-67 win over Utah Tech, which was tied with Brayden Burries and Anthony Dell’Orso for the team lead.

With one of the top five performances in the conference, Peat was also named a part of the inaugural Big 12 Starting Five along with Texas Tech’s Christian Anderson, BYU’s AJ Dybantsa, Cincinnati’s Baba Miller and Kansas’ Darryn Peterson.

Craig earns co-offensive player of the week despite few touches

During Arizona football’s 24-20 win over Kansas, Craig only had three rushing attempts and two passes caught. However, he found the endzone twice, including the game-winning score — a 24-yard touchdown run with 39 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

Ishmail Mahdi has been the primary back for Arizona this season, having the most rush attempts this season with 87. Kendrick Reescano is second with 46 and Craig has 40.

Even in Saturday’s win, Mahdi and Resscano both had more rush attempts. However, Craig led the team with 15.7 yards per attempts, a category he leads for the season with seven yards per rush.
