The Arizona Cardinals added second-year offensive lineman Zack Johnson to the practice squad on Thursday amid a run of dings to several of the team’s starting linemen.

Johnson, who went undrafted in 2020 out of North Dakota State, spent last season on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. He stuck with Green Bay this offseason but was released after training camp.

The 24-year-old played both guard and tackle in college, appearing in 54 games with 46 starts for the Bison.

Arizona has loaded up on offensive line depth in the past few days. The team did not have starting right tackle Kelvin Beachum in a Week 3 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to a rib injury. The Cardinals then had starting guards Justin Pugh and Justin Murray suffer back injuries last Sunday.

Backup guard/center Max Garcia and practice squad call-up Sean Harlow replaced the two guards in the game.

Beachum, Murray and Pugh did not participate in practice Wednesday, according to the official injury report.

Before adding Johnson to the roster, the Cardinals on Wednesday signed 2021 seventh-round draft pick Michal Menet, as well as Shaq Calhoun and Danny Isidora to the practice squad roster.
