Arizona Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill has tested positive for coronavirus, the team announced Friday.

Bidwill developed symptoms, got a COVID-19 test and it came back positive. Per his doctor’s recommendation, Bidwill was admitted to the hospital, where he has since improved, with his symptoms subsiding. The plan is for Bidwill to be released from the hospital later this weekend.

The team believes that Bidwill contracted the virus on the east coast, where the team president had been traveling for the past several weeks.

Bidwill has been working remotely since mid-March and has not had any in-person contact with players, coaches or staff.

Bidwill has been the team president of the Cardinals since 2007, previously serving as vice president and general counsel.

The Cardinals are set to begin training camp later this month and continue on with the 2020 season during the COVID-19 pandemic.
