The Arizona Cardinals announced Thursday they had released cornerback David Amerson.

The 27-year-old signed with the Cardinals on Nov. 14 last year and appeared in six games, nabbing an interception for 25 yards to go with two passes defensed and 21 tackles.

Before that, Amerson played for the Redskins and Raiders.

In 33 games (23 starts) with Washington, Amerson made two interceptions with 18 passes defensed, a forced fumble and 111 tackles. But Amerson was even more productive with the Raiders. In 35 games (33 starts) with Oakland, Amerson had six interceptions, 45 passes defensed and 141 tackles.

Cornerback is an area of emphasis for the Cardinals to sort out this offseason and training camp, particularly as Patrick Peterson will be suspended for the first six games of 2019.

Amerson’s release comes as the team wrapped up its mandatory mini-camp on Thursday, with practice being cancelled on its final day.
