Arizona Cardinals running back Bam Knight is unlikely to play this week due to a “bad” ankle sprain, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Monday.

Knight was carted off the field on Sunday against the Houston Texans, and Schefter reported that he did not break a bone but will have further imaging done.

The Cardinals face the Falcons at State Farm Stadium on Sunday, and they will do so with a running back core of Michael Carter and Emari Demercado.

Knight exited the game after one carry, and Carter took the bulk of the rushes from there. Linebacker Cody Simon and wide receiver Andre Baccellia also left the game with injuries, with the latter going to a hospital after going down with a neck injury.

The Cardinals’ running back room has gone through tribulations this season with James Conner and Trey Benson suffering season-ending leg injuries in Weeks 3 and 4, respectively. Benson was designated to return from injured reserve last month but was not activated before his practice window closed.

Arizona has averaged 72.7 rushing yards per game over the past three weeks, which is 31st in the NFL. Only the Las Vegas Raiders have picked up fewer.

The Cardinals have three games left, taking on the Falcons before two road matchups with the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams.

He's been horrible, so I think it is fine if he is out, or cut. I am almost 100% sure that kid they picked up off the Vikings practice squad will be better than Bam. I am pretty sure they can put Ryland in the backfield and get 3 yards per run
